DVAM18 Recap

In recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), WomenShelter of Long Beach (WSLB) sought to promote prevention education every single day of the month by sharing facts, statistics, and special videos through a 31 day interactive calendar. We invited the community to participate and the response we received was better than we could have ever imagined. Thank you to everyone who liked our posts, shared our posts, and participated in our special month long journey to Lead with Love.

In addition, WomenShelter hosted its 12th Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) Event: Lead with Love. The purpose of this year’s event was to increase domestic violence awareness and encourage community members to Lead with Love as they advocate for change. As the years progress, it is becoming very clear that ending domestic violence requires us to work in collaboration with one another. We cannot do this alone. This underlying sentiment influenced our decision to host our DVAM event in Belmont Shore. In addition to increasing awareness and education regarding domestic violence, our goal is to establish connections with the diverse community that makes Long Beach so amazing. In the coming years we hope to explore different areas throughout Long Beach as we continue to increase awareness and connect with community members of different backgrounds and cultures in effort of building a healthy, safe community for us to call home.

Again, thank you to everyone who supported our special month long journey to Lead with Love. Take a look at our DVAM and "Lead with Love" DVAM Event recap below. Until next year!

We appreciate every click, like, and share. It was only through your support and efforts that we were able to effectively share facts, statistics, and vital prevention education with the community.

We would also like to thank Frosted Cupcakery (4817 E 2nd St, Long Beach, CA 90803) for a WSLB Lead with Love Fundraiser during this year's DVAM and a special thank you to all who purchased a limited edition Lead with Love cupcake!
