BHR – Youth Empowerment Workshop Series
WomenShelter of Long Beach is excited to present a 5-Part Youth Empowerment Workshop Series to increase awareness on teen dating violence, how media exposure and culture impacts dating violence, characteristics of healthy relationships, bystander intervention, and self-care practices.
Research shows that nearly 1.5 million high school students nationwide experience physical abuse from a dating partner in a single year. Violent relationships in adolescence can have serious ramifications such as putting victims at a higher risk for substance abuse, eating disorders, risky sexual behavior and further domestic violence in adulthood. WomenShelter of Long Beach understands that increasing prevention education is critical to preventing teen dating violence.
We invite high school youth (ages 15-18) to join us in a safe space to have engaging conversations about the importance of building healthy relationships so they can identify early warning signs of dating abuse and in turn, stop teen dating violence. Workshop attendees will receive a WSLB Building Healthy Relationships E-Workbook.
