Join Us in Creating a Future Free from Violence
At WomenShelter of Long Beach, we are committed to ending domestic violence through compassionate services, prevention education, and community-based intervention. But this work can’t happen alone — it takes all of us.
Every hour a volunteer gives makes a meaningful difference. Whether supporting our programs, lending a skill, or helping behind the scenes, your time brings hope and healing to survivors and their families.
Ready to get involved?
We recruit volunteers on an as-needed basis. To learn more about current opportunities, reach out to our Director of Outreach and Education, Jenny Barbosa at jbarbosa@womenshelterlb.org or 562-437-7233, Ext. 1024.
Thank you for standing with us. Together, we can break the cycle of violence.
Hotline Support
Offer compassionate, confidential support to callers on our 24-hour crisis line.
Court Accompaniment
Provide a steady presence by accompanying survivors during court proceedings.
Donation Sorting
Love organizing? Join us in sorting and organizing donated items to ensure they reach the families and individuals who need them most. Every sorted box helps bring needed items to those we serve.
Handy Helpers
If you enjoy building, hanging, fixing, or rearranging spaces—this one’s for you! We’re looking for volunteers who can lend their hands (and tools) to help with furniture assembly, office setup, and light maintenance projects.
Donation Pick-ups
Be a part of the journey! Volunteers assist by picking up donations from community partners and delivering them to our DVRC or Shelter—helping us get essential items directly to our clients and families.
Special Events & Holiday Wrapping
Help us spread holiday cheer! During the festive season, we need our very own “holiday helpers” to wrap gifts and assist with special events that bring joy and warmth to the clients we serve.
Clerical Support
Help keep things running smoothly at our Domestic Violence Resource Center (DVRC)! Volunteers assist with administrative tasks, greet visitors, and support front desk operations that make a big difference in our daily work.
Tabling, Outreach, and Youth Education
Represent WSLB at community events, support prevention efforts, and help educate youth about healthy relationships.
Volunteer Requirements
Volunteers in our Adult Services and Children & Youth Services programs must complete the following:
-
Background check (LiveScan)
-
Current TB test (within one year)
If you have questions about the training or application process, please contact Jenny Barbosa at jbarbosa@womenshelterlb.org or 562-437-7233, Ext. 1024
