Programs and Trainings:
Building Healthy Relationships
This presentation and curriculum is suitable for elementary through college age students. Presentation topics and activities are tailored to provide age appropriate materials, topics, and activities.
WSLB’s Children & Youth Advocates are sharing vital, life changing information regarding dating abuse and safe relationships though the agency’s Building Healthy Relationships (BHR) presentations and curriculum. BHR presentations provide students with the opportunity to hear stories and personal testimonies while learning to recognize the early warning signs of abuse and unhealthy behaviors. Other important aspects of these presentations focus on mutual respect, trust, honesty, equality, and good communication.
A nationwide study found that nearly half of the youth who receive prevention education reported that they used the information to help themselves or a friend as a direct result of what they learned. In addition, an overwhelming 88% of children in this study were much more likely to discuss their dating relationships with their parents and disclose any violence and potentially dangerous dating abuse.
Domestic Violence 101
Suitable for those ages 18 and above.
Domestic Violence is public health issue. WSLB staff is available to provide you with education regarding the complex nature of abuse, the challenges victims face, the link between domestic violence and homelessness, and other important awareness raising topics.
