TDVAM Youth Conference 2024 Recap

In recognition of National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, WomenShelter of Long Beach hosted its 7th annual Youth conference: UNFOLLOW! Event on Saturday, February 24, 2024. Nearly 200 high school students, college students, adult caregivers, and service providers attended this year’s conference!

The goals of the conference were to create a safe space for youth and adults to have open, honest conversations, and to promote healthy relationships in this digital era between parents and youth. WSLB invited the community to participate to enhance knowledge and address the pressing issue of technology-related harassment among dating teens, with 1 in 4 affected. Through an interactive presentation by CSULB’s InterACT and a keynote from Adam Dodge of ‘EndTAB,’ we aim to raise awareness and promote responsible technology use.

Furthermore, thank you to our partner agencies that came together to enhance awareness of resources accessible to youth within their communities. Additionally, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Jordan High School choir, whose captivating melodies infused the room with positivity amid the information dissemination. Special appreciation goes to the Millikan High School Software Engineering and Gaming Academy. This year, WSLB collaborated with both teachers and students in the creation of interactive games that complemented our Building Healthy Relationships presentation.
